Governor's Merit Scholarship

This $5,000 renewable scholarship is awarded to every student in the top 5% of their public or chartered nonpublic high school graduating class who choose to attend an Ohio college or university (homeschooled students who score within the top 5% of applicants on the ACT/SAT). This critical investment in Ohio’s future encourages high-achieving high school graduates to remain in Ohio to pursue their post-secondary studies and contribute to Ohio’s expanding economic opportunities.

The Ohio College Opportunity Grant is available to eligible students who are residents of Ohio and is based on financial needs. To apply for this program, a student must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Choose Ohio First for Undergraduate Students

Ashland University has been awarded a grant from the state of Ohio to provide Choose Ohio First (COF) Scholarships to outstanding students in a variety of majors. These scholarships support academically strong students who plan to continue to graduate school, health-related professional programs or employment in STEM industries after completing a bachelor’s degree.

Students can receive $3,000 per academic year for four years.

Requirements:

AU also provides a peer mentoring program for new students. We encourage students to participate in research projects, professional internships and STEM-related career fairs as well.

Choose Ohio First for Graduate Students

Ashland University has been awarded a grant from the state of Ohio to provide Choose Ohio First (COF) Scholarships to academically strong students who plan to continue their education or seek employment in STEM industries after completing a master’s degree in Physician Assistant StudiesBusiness Analytics or Supply Chain Management.

Students can receive $3,000 per academic year for two years.

Physician Assistant Studies Requirements:

To maintain the scholarship, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, achieve a B- or higher in all courses throughout the duration of the PA program, and adhere to the professionalism policy as outlined in the Ashland University Physician Assistant Handbook.

TEACH Grant for Undergraduate Students

The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant provides grant assistance to students who are completing coursework to begin a teaching career in a high-need field. The award is up to $4,000 per year with a maximum of $16,000 for an undergraduate degree.
